It’s an exciting time to be part of the WCI family!

First, we’re pleased to announce that our new domain name, WCI.org, is up and running! The domain name now provides a single destination for WCI official site content instead of wearewci.org.

Both sites are now looking and working exactly the same – only the URL will be different. Don’t be alarmed if at some point you can’t find news, program, or other important pages in your bookmarks since you can still reach them through WCI.org

Links to the WCI website that use the wearewci.org domain will be automatically redirected to wci.org and email sent to any @wearewci.org addresses will also be automatically forwarded, though it’s highly recommended to add these new email addresses to your safe lists. Please contact your IT department to whitelist the WCI.org domain and update your bookmarks accordingly to help the new pages get indexed!

Secondly, we are proud to announce that we have officially changed our business name and corporate identity from Waltham Committee, Inc. to Work, Community, Independence, Inc. The name change is a result of a rebranding effort designed to mirror the growth and transformation of our organization.

Founded in 1974, WCI has been focused in the on our mission of empowering and supporting Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and autism to achieve rich and meaningful lives at home, at work and in their communities. As a result of this effort, WCI has grown far beyond our original administrative office on the third floor of Christ Episcopal church in Waltham to serve homes in Belmont, Watertown, Newton and Maynard, and incorporating Day Habilitation, Shared Living and Acquired Brain Injury to the services we offer our Individuals.

Our new identity has been designed to move WCI forward and acknowledge the spirit and the service we provide to our Individuals. In this sense, changing our name to Work, Community, Independence, Inc. represents an evolution from our previous experience, origins and roots. In short, by moving from Waltham Committee, Inc. to Work, Community, Independence, Inc., we would like to make a statement to be fully perceived beyond just the community of Waltham and into the greater area as a whole.

Finally, the change of name will not involve any modifications to the nature of the company, will not change our tax ID, nor will it in any way affect existing commercial relations with Individuals, guardians, partners, suppliers, financial management, manufacturing, contracts, or personnel.

We appreciate taking this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and look forward to serving our Individuals and Community under our new name!
